Morgan Pell is an interdisciplinary artist with a passion for functional goods made beautifully.
She has been making things her whole life, but her most recent art journey began in 2017 when she and her husband Mark purchased a heavily wooded property with a run down house that needed a lot of work to become a home.
As they worked to clean up the property, they quickly discovered that the things available for purchase to make improvements to their house were lacking in quality and form, sometimes function too. Driven by the wasting beauty found in the forest and the desire to put quality items into their home, they started collecting the tools and the skillsets necessary to transform materials into useful and beautiful things.
Mergstyle brooms
Morgan began arranging the corn into very simple images and found it difficult to create clean lines. She spent over 2 years developing the techniques to make Mergstyle brooms, ensuring that every line came out just right, and every detail was exactly placed. She also dyes all of her own broom corn, as only the straightest pieces can be used to make Mergstyle brooms.
Mergstyle brooms are artfully arranged to create intricate designs and images. They are not colored, painted, or dyed after assembly.
